Well folks,  the F units are better looking in person than any picture I have seen.  I was impressed upon arriving at Faulkner Road Friday Morning.  I was awakened by a phone call saying the Derby Train is near Faulkner.  After a bit of decision making I ran out to Falkner Road to see it.  I had very little time to kill do to that thing they call work.  I snapped off a few pictures and headed back home to get ready for work.
After getting to work (Lawrenceburg Local) I did some checking to see if the train had left the wye.  He ended up leaving the wye about the same time we headed out the door to gather our cars up for the day.  The dispatcher held us at Lawrenceburg for the Derby Train.  So while setting in the clear I walked around trying to find the best angle for my last Derby Train pic for the day.  When you see the pic you will agree that I should have spent a little bit more time looking for the better angle.  But hey it is a F unit on a cloudy day lets try something different.   I also got some roster shots.

Thanks for looking

Junior,

Great shots. I too am partial to the shot with GP59. I think I saw on a post somewhere (dont know if it was here or another group) but is the heritage of one of the unit B&O?

Robert,

Here are some shots of the F's before they got rebuilt. I just happen to catch them in transit from Their former home in St. Louis last year.

check this thread for the pics.   http://jreb.org/ns/index.php?topic=1570.0

Thanks E.M.,

I remember seeing my first B&O F's as a preschooler in Hamilton Ohio in the late 50's. That body style has always been a favorite. They dont look nearly the same in those pics. I think that new NS scheme has done wonders for them. Thats a great looking paint job.

Thanks for the pics E.M.

That new NS scheme on the F's is actually the same scheme that SOUTHERN used for their locomotive fleet to haul freight in the latter years of SR before merging with NW in 1982.

I never had the opportunity to see F's or E's in that scheme but I did see quite a few hood units through Hamilton Ohio in the 70's (I left in 78). The black units (with white low stripe and gold stipe bordering the white avbove and below) would lead trains over the B&O / Chessie from Cincy. If I recall they headed to either Richmond Indiana (or toward Toledo. Been a long time). I think the train numbers were 99 and 97, might have been others.

Wish I could have caught some E's or F's but no such luck.
