New Southern Railway System SD40-2 Models Coming

I've done this in HO scale, and don't even have a model railroad!

Yep, saw that . . . they look pretty "cool", really. 

My 2005 edition of "The Official Locomotive Rosters & News" (by James Kerr) says that 7 units are still on the active NS roster.  They're are listed as 3000 horsepower units built in 1972.

Actually, 110 out of the original 128 former Southern Railway high hood SD40-2 units are still on the NS active roster.  Here is a link to a detailed roster of the units on my website:

BTW, are any of them still in the Southern scheme (i.e., like illustrated above)? 

I'd assume they are all wearing a NS / NS Horsehead logo by now.

No, the last active units in Southern or N&W paint were repainted by the end of 1991.
