Saturday 2/3/07  was going to be a cold windy day.  I, like usual planned on staying in and keeping warm.  Mr. Bell called and explained that a East bound parade was about to begin.  I decided to go spend a few hours in the cold.  It paid off.  I got several good shots.

To be such a pretty day the clouds kept trying to be difficult.

A nice set of photos, Junior.

Pretty neat that you can take a train and make it look like it was drawn by pencil. Great effect.

Someone else had brought up that the nose's mid-stencil was wider than the other units.

Also another thing that catches my eye a time or two is the logo seems smaller on the side of the ES40DC than say a catfish.
Is it that there isn't enough room to stencil the logo on the side?

Only you would have the presence of  mind to turn around and take a picture of a confounded cloud..I was to busy stomping  around cursing them to even think about it, but nice effect! That was the story of the day..clouds moving so fast that even superman couldn't have adjusted his light fast enough to keep up!

The horsehead logo and Norfolk Southern lettering are smaller on most of the ES40DC units than on other road locomotives due to the shorter engine compartment of the ES40DC.  The exceptions to this are NS 7542 and 7543, which received the larger logos and lettering, but with shorter than normal logo stripes.

I find it frightening that you know those types of obscure details Chris.  . . .
