I am pretty sure the 3912 is finished.

Rumor has it all the other U-boats will be gone by the end of 2015. The gloomy weather was kind of ironic on today's Lyons GA outing to.

Honestly it is hard to believe any of these units are still running today.

Thank you for sharing. Are all these units being sold for scrap or are any units being sold for further use or preservation?

Yes, please let us know what happens to the U-boats! It wouldn't surprise me if the Finger Lakes Railway tried to acquire some of them, since they seem to like older GE locomotives.
Got questions? I can help you with the Erie Lackawanna (including predecessors), Lehigh Valley, Delaware & Hudson and the shortlines of upstate NY.

Got word that after pulling yesterday's train 3911 is now a goner. There are rumors 3910 may get lucky and get saved.

I would love to see SARM in Oakridge get One of those units, if G&W is in the giving mood. Not much commercial call for a old Uboat, and that would look great in Southern paint with a certain pair of Southern GP30's they have.

Exactly my thought EMB. SARM has those L&N units, so a nice Southern GE would only be proper. 8)

Blaine just told me 3911 was running today so maybe it was not true.

GWI has sold off U-Boats from other operations in that past, so it might be possible for SARM to buy one or more of GC units.

Again, FGLK might be interested in the GC U-boats, too.... as they are a rare haven for GEs.

The 3911 is now a goner, according to sources they have begun stripping it down.

Finally made it down there to shoot some of these. I caught 3965 in Riceboro, 3928 in Savannah, and 3957 in Dublin. The shot below of 3957 ended up being my favorite, even though I screwed the exposure up bad, I was able to fix it for the most part and it ended up looking even better in black and white.
