K010 is the unit tank train that operates to the Port of Albany in upstate NY. It hauls Bakken crude oil from the Midwest and often has NS power in the mix. (The same holds true for the westbound empties- K013.)

I caught up with K010 a few days ago at Chili Junction, which is on the west side of Greater Rochester. The lead unit was BNSF.

The two trailing units were NS. If I'm lucky, I might catch them leading on the return trip... which has been known to run on weekends.

Finally does anybody know what the marker next to the trailing tank car indicates? I assume it signifies something under SBD rules, but I don't know exactly what it is.

Got questions? I can help you with the Erie Lackawanna (including predecessors), Lehigh Valley, Delaware & Hudson and the shortlines of upstate NY.

Good pictures! The Warning Sign means the beginning of a temporary speed restriction or Rule 43 to reduce speed or stop as directed. It's usually put up by maintenance workers that may be in the area.
