I made a pilgrimage to CP Cass two days ago. I was hoping the snowstorm on Thursday would have delayed the WNYP from heading into ZY yard to interchange with NS, but the grooves in the snow and clean rails indicated the big Alcos had indeed managed the trip the day before.

It was not an unproductive day, as the green signal at CP Cass indicated the approach of an eastbound train.

The eastbound train was eastbound NS/CP 38T:

The tail end of 38T clears Cass Street:

Got questions? I can help you with the Erie Lackawanna (including predecessors), Lehigh Valley, Delaware & Hudson and the shortlines of upstate NY.

The red in my title refers to the CP units pulling 38T. The white.... well, that was everywhere! We'd gotten walloped (in upstate NY) by 12-16" of snow on Thursday. The black? That refers to the power for 13T, which arrived in the early afternoon.

C40-8W #8440 was the trailing power for 13T:

The tail end of 13T has just cleared West Street, which is where I photographed the signals shown in my previous post.

All photos in this post were taken by me Friday 12/28/2012. My entire haul for the day was just 2 trains... which was no surprise considering the heavy snowfall. And that's all folks... this was my final chase for 2012. Happy New Year to my fellow jrebbers!

Thanx for the kind words. I'll probably have better luck when I visit CP Cass later this month.
