I made a trip to Decatur, Illinois on a foggy, cold, not very good weather for photography day! But this was rare and the first time I believe the two Wabash loco's were paired up together in Illinois. I arrived around 7:30A.M. in Niantic, IL and caught a few trains and then the 974 departed roughly around 8:30A.M. 1189 led West and 1070 led East. Here are the photos! Even got CSXT #1 today!

Photo(s):
1. 974 with WAB #1189 flies through Niantic, IL just East of Illiopolis, IL.
2. WAB #1189 gets underway out of Decatur with train 974 Santa Special.
3. Wabash SD70ACe heritage #1070 leads #974 into Decatur, IL.
4. Coming home I railfanned CSX and got engine #1 leading Q233-08 to Salem, IL running through the town of Altamont on the Ex-Conrail line from Indianapolis.

That is way cool . . . . thanks for the pics.

I was at Spencer, NC this summer, so enjoying seeing the entire heritage fleet (together).

Besides just painting-up a few locomotives, I'm also impressed that company officials have promoted ways of using the heritage fleet units "creatively".

Nickel Plate #8100 paired with #765 this summer was an example, and these two Wabash units on the Santa run is another example of what I'm talking about.

Very neat!
