Very nice photos. Is this the south Boston near Danville,VA ?  have family there and did not know they had the NS line through there until recently.

Yes sir it is about 30 mins east of Danville. All we get through here is coal and more coal. 3 power plants around the area. Danville is the closest place to see anything else so I go there alot.

Sounds like my home tracks. Coal and coal. I have to go to Bristol about twenty miles away for all the intermodal NS but CSX and NS do cross at my house. Guess I am lucky at that

Least we forget. Tis a mighty rough Road between Lynchburg and Danville. From the Wreck of the old 97.
Done by many people but most today remember it by Johnny Cash. My guess as the most famous song of the Southern Railway. To add bit of history. The song is true but I'm sure things were added to make it fit. Railroads should still have mail trains.

Yep. Trains still run over White Oak Mountain today, it is about 10 miles north of Danville on the Piedmont.
