Three Ex-Southern units have become captive as power for the South Boston locals, so I went out yesterday to try out my new camera. NS 3551, NS 3216, and NS 3543. I talked to one of the engineers and she said the 3216 was tagged a B unit only, dont konw whats wrong with it.
Then the V63 dump job came through town with a Empty Hyco train headed for the siding at Sinai to tie it down for a Outbound 769 crew to pick up.

probably made it a trailing only unit so that the GE in the lead would think it was actually doing something  :D

You maybe right. It is in the middle of the 2 dash8s, so it makes them both think they are doing something. There were 3 of those Dash8-32Bs here at one time, and they could not pull anything and the dynamics dont work half the time. They need to be run through the shredder.

Yeah they keep three or four here in Louisville to mix with some high hood emds on the cane run coal train. We, the PAL, took over all that coal recently so I don't know how much longer those duds will be around.

I wish they were all scrapped.  They used to keep all EMDs here with the occasional GE and there were alot less problems with units.
