This past Sunday, Caleb and myself headed out early to see what was shaking on the NS. We had intended to spend the majority of the day on the Louisville district, and headed West.  Chatter on the radio pointed to a meet fixing to happen at Waddy, KY, and we just beat Eastbound 223 there.

223 Would hold the main to meet the 22A, and all this transpired in the "sweet" light that you can only find early in the morning, or late in the evening. I am an early riser by nature, and that seems to work out well at times like this.

After shooting the meet, we came to the conclusion that the "mid-day lull" that usually happens on  the Louisville district was going to happen a little early, and we opted to follow the 223 towards Danville, to take advantage of the better light. That decision would pay off well later in the day on the CNO&TP...more on that later.

#1 NS 223 passes the West end of the siding at Waddy KY.

#2 The DPU on the rear of 22A is already in dynamic brakes as it leaves the siding and follows the train down Hooper hill

#3 The Eastbound 223 at the East end of Talmage KY. Its pretty dang rare for a train to get by the siding here without having to stop for a meet..
