This past Sunday morning, Carmon and myself headed out early and spent a few hours shooting on the CNO&TP before it got to hot. We had Two main objectives, to check out the derailment site at Geneva KY, where NS 215 piled up after hitting a sun kink, and to see if we could get a shot or two of the Southern 4610, which was being used for yard power in Danville (KY).  In the span of about 2 hours, we bagged the 4610 at the Danville fuel rack, got down to Geneva to find most all of the derailed stack cars (and the remains of the UPS and JB Hunt containers) still scattered about after over a week, and as a added bonus, got a NS BRANDT truck with a mini-ballast train. The icing on the cake was a nice GMTX SD60 leading the Northbound 282.

The night before, we had went down to Danville to see if we could get some night shots of the 4610, but it was buried back in the shop. We did get some groovy night shots of a few other EMD's though, including the NS 6333.

Here are a few low resolution shots, the whole series can be found (much larger) at the links above.

A NS BRANT truck pulls a 4 car cut of loaded ballast near McKinney KY, headed for work at the derailment site. These things are pretty neat, but if you ask me, just another way to screw a train crew out of a days pay.

Saturday night at Danville KY, and a new SD40E sits on the point of a ballast train, as a yard job streaks by with a high hood GP38-2
