first day with a camera and walked straight outside to the sound of two emd's coming thru town, didnt get a great shot but a shot nonetheless, and later caught t19 with their GE on the ground forever shattering the "six axle loco's can go anywhere a four axle can" logic.
"The engineer in the old high cab his gold watch in his hand, looking at the waterglass and letting down the sand, rolling out on the old main line taking up the slack, gone today so they say but tomorrow he'll be back...."

On the ground, but at least its not on fire...:)  They had the mess cleaned up and T19 was just leaving there, headed to Shelbyville (KY) when I came by there on the way home from work.

God job for your first outing with the new camera..I love how you got the General Cable sign framed with the derailment pic!  Looking forward to more, just hope my suggestion didn't cost you to much :)

You probably didn't know this, but the Alco C628 shattered that philosophy back in the '60s and '70s. Both the Lehigh Valley and the D&H found the C628's 6 axle trucks could break rail... so each of those RRs eventually put restrictions on where they could go.
Got questions? I can help you with the Erie Lackawanna (including predecessors), Lehigh Valley, Delaware & Hudson and the shortlines of upstate NY.

Ponce de Leon

The L&N invoked similar restrictions on six-axles 40 years ago. In particular, the tri-mount trucks on Alco C628s, C630s and GE U25Cs were problematic because of the way weight was distributed on them. They were effectively banned, in fact, on several stretches of main line.
