Not NS, but I just spent a week exploring the Tunnel District between Denver and Moffat Tunnel.   I also checked out the old Rollins Pass Denver & Rio Grande Western ROW.  Here is the link to a few pix. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=27399&id=1052763780&l=004c0a2f91 .  I'm going to put together a page when I get everything organized.

I went all the way through-I took a day trip from Denver to Granby and back on Amtrak.  I could have gotten in of foot  guess, but I'm pretty sure I would have had an escort back out.  Trivia and a story:  to go from the Moffat Tunnel East Portal to the West Portal on a train takes 10 minutes; to go from the East Portal to the West Portal by car takes 90 minutes.

And this story from Paul, a UP engineer who gave me some tips when I was planning my trip:  "I remember once, coming Eastbound we had reports of a Moose near the West Portal at Winter Park. We kept the speed down and as we came into the tunnel saw him inside the portal. There was nothing we could do because you can't back up, so we kept going very slow, ringing the bell and keeping him in front of us. We stayed behind him for the 6 miles and finally we got him to exit the East side of the tunnel and we went on our way. It was pretty funny. He did not seem to be in much of a hurry either."
