I ventured out this afternoon to try out my new Camera. After several years of faithful service, the D30 has been placed on standby, and the new XTI placed into regular service.  Today was more of a learning session than anythng, but I managed a few keepers.  Larger Versions of these images can be found at my Pbase site here  http://www.pbase.com/kd4jsl/ns_central_div_louisville_district

Over the past 6 months, crews have been clearing out a large stand of tress just down the road from my house, opening up the view of the NS mainline. I have been watching this project for awhile, and decided to see what I could do with it. A short walk out of my driveway netted these..

Westbound Work train 93T at the same location.

and a short time later, Eastbound 223 at the same location, a little closer to the bridge over the creek and Bondville Road.

Next up was a Eastbound 055 High/Wide special, with CAT equipment headed for export. These trains run on a fairly regular basis. 055 is seen at at West Talmage KY

A little later I wandered over to Waddy to shoot one and try out the (also) new Canon 18-55 wide angle I just picked up. Here is the Eastbound 111 at Waddy Ky
