A couple of not so common (for me) sightings

Saturday and today I was pleasantly surprised to see some motive power that I don't normally see in central Kentucky.  Let me say in advance that my camera is not a high speed DSLR, and I am not a high speed photographer, as you would know if I posted more photos.  Anyway the first pic deserves even more explanation(or excuses?) I was driving behind the mall in Lexington, which is right next to the NS line.  There are actually one or two spots where there are no trees and you can get a pretty good glimpse of the passing trains.  There is a passing siding on this part of the line so it's not uncommon to see a train stopped waiting for another to go by.  That was the case Saturday as I drove through the back lot of the mall trying to skip some red lights.  Unfortunately the train was not stopped in one of the spots where there are no trees, so I couldn't get a clear shot when I saw a grain train stopped waiting for something else to go by.  Normally I wouldn't care, except that this time one of the locomotives was a D&RGW tunnel motor with pretty good paint.  Combine the trees with me trying to snap a picture while driving, and here is the best I could do:

We've all probably seen them, at least in pictures, but it was the first time I had seen one live.  I was on my way to an appointment so I couldn't chase the train south.

Today on my way to work (I've managed to devise a route that takes me past the NS yard in Lexington)  I spotted these twins dropping cars off on their way south:

As you may have noticed in some of my other posts, the simpler and more boring the paint scheme, the more I like it, so if I were CEO of Kansas City Southern we'd still be painting them this way.
