Alrighty sports fans, Let see if'n I can figger this out. I've recently scanned a collection of prints of STRAIGHT Geeps and SDs. that means there ain't a -2 in it's identificashun. What I have includes GP38s, GP38ACs and SD40s. Now lets try to upload a few. BTW, I lost my "conversion table" as to what 5500 series the GP38 were rebuilt into, so if you have one or know the disposition, post away!
OH, and by all means, post what you have in this category, me thinks it'll be a nice ride!

First up, NS 2725

Third and last fer the night, (I gotta be at the Firehall tomorrow) NS 2732. On this day, she was working T71, the local Cleveland Switcher. Photo taken on the house  track next to the old Cleveland, TN depot. The depot has been deeded over to the City and there are plans afoot to restore it.
Y'all have a good evening!

Nice shootin' there Emmett! I'm one of those nuts who back in the late 70's and early 80's mostly shot SOU steam and let GP35s, SD35s, and GP30s, etc. roll right on past. I don't do that now tho., I shoot pretty much everything that even comes close.
So without furthur adoo, I got a clear signal to post more, so heahwego!
Here is NS 2736 trundling thru lovely Forsyth, Georgia on the old CofG line. I used to live down there and took care of my Grandparents at the old Family Homeplace in High Falls. I do miss it from time to time.

Straight 38 NS 2751 again in Forsyth, GA on the old CofG line. Don'tja jest looooove those chip hoppers! They were a VERY common sight only a few years ago up and down this line.
I hear they are going to start running Triple Crowns up and down this line between ATL and Macon. (NS 251 and NS 264) They are in the process of upgrading it from it's degraded condition of multiple 10 MPH speed limits.

Yea, I know they are all the same type locomotive, but I'm posting GP38 in different places that have been known to harbor older loco.s. For example, NS 2823 hung around Charleston, TN long enough for me to get a good-light shot with the "Big Boy" camera. This is scanned from a picture printed from 120 film shot with my Mamiya 645. Not bad coming from a 4x5 eh?

Well, I hear The Warden snoring on the sofa, so I better make this the last for this evening. Here is a GP38 passing one of my regular hangout places, beeeeeautiful downtown Dalton, GA. Here's a work train, I think, passing thru CP "Hair" with NS 2834. Hair is a local family name that had at least a couple of fellers working for the old Southern. It does sound a little odd tho when NS trains call "clear, Hair".  ;D
G'nite!

Most of the local stuff in Lexington/Nicholasville lately has been pulled by a GP38-2, but I did snag this in the Lex. yard back during the summer months

GP-38AC  2837 is switching cars in the transfer yard at Calhoun, TN. The yard is where CSX meets the NS for the huge Bowater Paper plant. IIRC, the yard belongs to CSX and NS comes in and out of it as needed.

Another GP-38AC located in what can be a hotbed of old NS locomotives, Griffin, GA. Photo was taken in the late 90's IIRC. A rare find below the cab, the original buildrs plate from EMD. Don't see those much anymore. Hmmmmmm, I wonder where they all went????
