I went for a chase for a bit of the NS 70K this morning to Lexington and decided to catch him as he comes onto RJ Corman's "Old Road" line in a couple places--by then his symbol changed to CSX E332.

Georgetown Street crossing:

Trailing unit of E332, CSXT 314 at Third Street crossing. Train was at track speed (10mph):

The train stopped just short of the hotbox detector for a quick crew change so the RJC crew could let the CSX crew take over. Train at Old Paris Pike:

NS was pretty much "dead to the world" by this time so I decided to call it a day and do some chores at home.

C ya.  :)

Just as soon as I get home, BAM!!!!!
They start running trains. NS 288 by Nicholasville at 1445
NS 180 by Jessamine at 1500.

Imagine that.  >:(

If I may Buddy, I'd like to offer some constructive feedback on that 3rd photo.

Your framing is off for trying to put the train on the right side of the photo, there's nothing but an open field and a largely obstructed building quite deep in the far end of the depth of field.  This particular location looks as though it just lends itself to a run-o-the-mill 3/4 wedgie, beyond your control I know.

Whenever I try to weigh my photos with the train on the periphery I generally like to make sure there is something in the near field to soak up the dead space.   As an example,

Notice the tree in the foreground which gives the eye something to look at, the intention was to make a person look at the tree and then only see the train almost by accident.

Not trying to burn you or heighten myself, just giving food for thought that I hope everyone can benefit from.

Later,
Sean

I believe I might have cropped the shot down a little tighter on the head end but, on the other hand it does seem the shadow of the tree nearest the photographer (Buddy) somewhat points toward the lead unit. That is what I saw and only after that did I look at the house and other details.

Only my opinion though.

I did a little tightening on the photo to focus more on the train itself.(see above and below)

That is what I had in mind. It appears more balanced. A goalpost effect with trees each side, the shadow seemingly underlining the image of the units. Nice shot.
