I have been up now for almost 20 hours, so no big novel on the festivities, just the facts..  The inbound Derby OCS moved yesterday over the CNO&TP and LS inroute to Louisville. In case you have been in a cave for the past few months, power was the A-B-B set of F units and a Altoona Rebuilt Geep.  Thanks to some generous heads up from the folks here on the Jreb board and other places, I was able to make it down to Danville and follow it back West over the LS. The weather was horrible, cloudy and windy, almost no sun to speak of (although a certain lucky SOB caught a few suckers holes this morning at the wye..Im sure we will be seeing those on here soon. )

Here are the best from the day, and given the conditions, that aint saying much. After a group photoshop session this evening (thanks JR and Hoydie) here are the results..

The obligatory roster shots at North Wye. They got a good bit of delay here waiting for 376 and other traffic to clear, not getting away till 1100.

Leaving the wye, ready to turn West towards Louisville

Easing through Harrodsburg Ky as the clouds get thicker.

After meeting Two Eastbounds, 955 rolls West through Vanarsdale KY

A track crew is hard at work replacing ties in the siding at Waddy Ky as 955 passes.

Its been awhile since Waddy has seen power like this. By this time, the top bulb in the headlight had joined the lower one in failure..

Rumbling over the bridge, Downtown Shelbyville Ky

The last shot of the day at Veechdale, just West of Shelbyville. Looks like the slack must have run out hard..that poor fellow is plastered up aganst the window...come to think of it, that must have happened a lot...that poor fellow was seen in a similar position several times. Seemed to happen when ever a camera was around.

Nice shots and good locations.
That conductor had the bug on the windshield look.

Junior

Thanks for the help on my pics.

He may be the same conductor I caught on an eastbound train at East Harrodsburg several months back posing the "Garfield-Splattered-in-the-window" look.

Great job Emmett on the pics!!!

Nice stuff there Emmett.Yeah the weather certainly wasn't condusive for good railroad photography.Got a heads up at work that he was a Waddy so I took
an extended lunch and caught him at Clark Station to J'town.Seeing him cross
Pope Lick sure reminded me of the last time that I saw that sight back in May
1987 when 4 Southern FP7's had the honor.

Thanks for the comments guys. It was a great site to see, despite the weather. Lets just hope that the clouds are no where around when it goes back East. We have a 4 day weekend of hardcore shooting planned for the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th. Maybe the weather man will be good to us..

 8) Great Work, Mr. E.M Bell!
The variety is enough for any railfan.  Close-ups, panoramas, straights, curves, unit shots,
Thanks for your time!

Any thoughts on what the return schedule/route will be?

Butch..

The train 'should' go out Sunday afternoon or Monday Morning, as has been the case the past several years. The route will be a reversal of the inbound, Louisville East to Danville, around the wye and then North up the first district to the Queen City.

Im sure the departure info will be posted here as soon as it is known.
