June NS Alabama East End … A Few Good Ones

NS 153 (LINWOOD, NC - BIRMINGHAM, AL) had lead engine problems on the evening of June 13 and was tied down on the Sewell / Bremen siding. Found the train with three UP units Sunday morning and an SW9 unit in tow reported as ex SCL 172/ ACL 690 Built 10-51. Not sure where this unit is headed.


NS 22G (LONG BEACH, CA (UP KLBNS) - ATL, GA) with two special units on the head end  UP 7064 the 5,000 GEVO built unit and UP 2002, Olympic Torch unit roll east bound through Temple Georgia.




NS 226 (LOS ANGELES, CA (UP ZLCAI) - ATLANTA, GA) through the S curves west Douglasville Georgia with trailing UP 1988 "The Katy" in DPU.




NS 23E (ATLANTA, GA - DALLAS, TX (KCS IATDA2) west bound on the main at Temple Georgia with NS 226 holding the siding. This day, as most, the 226 has a trailing DPU


Head end cars of NS 27A (BRUNSWICK GA - VANCE ALA) LEFT & NS 23E (ATLANTA, GA - DALLAS, TX (KCS IATDA2) RIGHT occupy the west end of the siding and main line at Bremen Ga. 23E had only one working locomotive so 27A had to give up one of its units


NS 27A & 23E after all power moves were made.


NS 66M (CALERA ALA- ATLANTA GA. Loaded Blue Circle Cement Train) with the Central Of Georgia in the lead, heads east onto the siding at Villa Rica Ga  The train was tied down in the siding and re-crewed a few hours later and continued the trip to "Magnolia" just north of Inman Yard.


NS 290 (MCCALLA, AL - CROXTON, NJ) a few days later with the Central Of Georgia in the lead at Winston Ga


NS22Q (ATLANTA, GA - NEW ORLEANS, LA) about 5 days later with the Central Of Georgia in the lead holding the siding at Temple Ga as an early evening rain shower tapers off.


NS 295 (CHICAGO, IL (LANDERS) - JAX, FL (FEC) with "The Katy" in the lead heads south off the storage tracks to the run-a-round track on the south end of Whitaker Yard, Austell Ga

NS 708 (MT VERNON IL – GP WANSLEY GA) south bound on the "C-Line" at Bremen Ga


NS 223 (KANSAS CITY, MO - ATLANTA, GA) on the run-a-round track south end of Whitaker Yard at the pedestrian crosswalk for the Box Board plant. Many times this crosswalk is blocked so the plant employees can use the walkway under the Sweetwater Creek deck bridge
