I had an enjoyable day chasing the Bath & Hammondsport RR and Norfolk Southern nearly 2 weeks ago. Although fall colors were slightly past peak, they were still quite bright.

The B&H is using their new engine house in Coopers Plains- the local originated there for this trip. RS18 #416, a relatively recent arrival, has been performing well, and was paired with  C424m #423.

The B&H engines ran west to Blessing and picked up a cut of tank cars there.

The local ran east to Painted Post, where the B&H engines were cut off from the consist and set to the NS wye.

After about 90 minutes passed, NS local H77 emerged. I was happy to see that a couple of GP38-2s were assigned to the job.  They rumbled along Chemung Street while the B&H engines left the wye to pick up a fresh consist from NS.

Clouds had been passing by at times during the morning, but the sky got very dark as the NS Geeps hitched up to the cars left by the B&H:

A brief but strong rain shower passed through the area not long after the previous shot, but it ended by the time NS H77 headed eastward along Cheming Street.

H77 passes through the gates of the Dresser Rand complex:

Not long after H77 departed, the B&H local returned. Both the Alco and the MLW were smoking!

Unlike the inbound trip, the B&H had a very short train for the outbound journey:

After the B&H local left, I headed over to the Gang Mills yard and saw NS 12T getting ready to leave. I drove west into the Canisteo River valley and set up for that train at the County Route 110 crossing in Cameron Mills.

The chase was on- I chased 12T westward to the passing siding in West Cameron, where it met eastbound NS 13T. No worries- 13T wasn't moving yet in the next shot!

Also, there is a possibility that 13T was actually NS  M3T... as 13T has been running with an extra section on a semi-regular basis of late.
