Emmett and myself have had some good luck the last Two weeks with trains, and stayed pretty close to home while doing it.

A quick outing on Sunday 09/23/12 netted a couple of shots on the Louisville District, an even quicker trip to Burgin Ky after work on Tuesday 09/25/12 got me my first in-service shot of the Central of Georgia 8101, and then yesterday (09/30/12) we spend most of the day out on the CNO&TP South of Danville.

Below are are a few of my shots from those trips, and be sure to check out the rest of them on Pbase at the link below.

Sunday Morning 09/23/12, we left home early to take advantage of the good light and to check out a spot Adam had told us about. Here is NS 285 reflecting in the waters of Lake Wells, which is located on the Louisville district not to far from home. Adam and E.B. call this a lake, but its a little smaller than that to me. I guess "Wells Pond" or "Adams Secret Cesspool" just dont have the same ring to it.

285 again at East Talmage, KY. After this shot, I got drug off to spend the rest of the day taking pictures of old guys in wool suits and enjoying the smell of black powder.

Tuesday 09/25/12, I met Emmet at home after work, and we just beat NS 61A to Burgin Ky for a shot of the CG 8101.

Sunday 09/30/12 we headed out early and made our way to Danville Ky to spend the morning shooting on the 2nd District of the CNO&TP. It was a busy day, and we saw a bunch of trains, but with so many GE's leading, I didn't bother to shoot that many. A good book beats a GE any day, unless the location is above average (or so I have been told)

Our first shot was train 111 on the Louisville District at Harrodsburg KY.  I have been taking pictures in and around Harrodsburg for 4 years now, but this was the first time I had seen this angle. That is one town that seems to always have something new to offer, if you just look.

Northbound 282 passes 54G at Bowen Ky, surrounded by the brown corn of Fall.

A little more than trains is always good. 3 trackside horses at Bowen

Train 275 rolls down the valley at Milidgeville KY

A UP EMD brings 54G South at Milidgeville KY

Southbound 223 passes the DPU's on empty coal train 797 at McKinney Ky.
