I've ended up with most every ho scale maker in my roundhouse, Bachmann, mantua, Broadway limited, proto series, spectrum,, Tyco, atlas even an ahm or two, but I recently bought my first Stewart hobbies built unit. They usually bring big bucks online, and so I finally broke down and paid for one. What's the scoop with these, they look well built and a friend of mine thinks some have a kato drive in them? Are they worthy of the hype? Here's my latest acquisition, Dan can expect it entered in a predecessor contest when we have one  ;D just gotta find some suitable scenery and rolling stock between here and then.

Nice! I have no Stewart products... but, everyone I know who does... has nothing but praises for them. I am not sure about Kato... but, I do know some have Atlas drives. And all my Atlas stuff runs great.

They are some pretty solid performers. My dad picked up several sets of the EMD FTs when the originally came out years ago (in Southern of course). Very smooth and heavy. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't hesitate to say that they are slightly better than Atlas. Haha
