This past Sunday, I decided to head down to Kenova, West Virginia to get some video and a few photos. This should tell you how the day was going to go and how it went. Now, when I got off the interstate and came under the NS underpass. Here I was met with not one but two trains stopped on the bridge. What had happened was that the J18 had went into emergency while crossing the bridge as the J11 was waiting on the coal train to pass. I will say that it was mostly an EMD show on Sunday.

NS 6073 on the J11 road switcher.

As the J11 is setting on the bridge waiting. The train that went into emergency, the J18, proceeds east after the conductor had reboarded. In this photo and video, we see the J18 passing by as the J11 sets on main two waiting for the J18 to clear.

Once the J18 had gone east and cleared the crossover at Kenova. It was the J11's turn to head east towards Williamson, West Virginia. In this video we see the J11 passing by the classic Norfolk & Western color position light that protects the "Coach Track" that heads into Kenova Yard. If you are wondering, they had an "Approach Diverging" on the aspects.

After those two had gotten going and out of the way. The J13 comes out from the coal docks along the Ohio River with empties bound for Williamson. We had another 70ACe show up as the sole commander as NS 1030 brings the 135 car train around the loop track to cross over the CSX mains to get on home rails.

Now I realize that this is a forum devoted to Norfolk Southern and CSX may be frowned upon here. With that being said though, I just could not resist posting this video and photo that I got of a CSX grain train and ammonia train passing through. The first photo and video are of CSX train G877-12 being "led" by CSXT 5208. Even though there are five locomotives on the train. We all know that the two GP38-2s that were mixed in were the ones that were doing any work. :D

Here is that ammonia train being led by the CSXT 8627 as it heads east through town on the former Chesapeake & Ohio mainline. Gotta love the smoke show at the beginning of the video. :D

The last train to show up on Sunday was the 233 running westbound. This lashup even had a little bit of color to it. NS 9040 and UP 6504 lead four other locomotives and the doublestacks across the bridge as they head west for Columbus, Ohio and Chicago, Illinois. That lashup had to be the catch of the day even with all of the GE's on it.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
