I enjoyed a warm & clear day on the CNO&TP on Saturday, August 28th . . . . from Kings Mountain south to Burnside.  The scenery is still relatively green along the Second Division.  I mostly saw a parade of northbound's, but that's fine.  A few of the pics:

1) After a 5-hour drive, a nice sign saying "welcome".
2) When I arrived at the Route 501 bridge at Kings Mountain, a very long Triple Crown train stretched as far as I could see north and south (here's just the end of the northbound).
3) Next up, NS 124 (I think, as radio chatter wasn't very clear) headed north with a load of containers.
4) The double stack run definitely added color to the scene.

I ran the CNO&TP line "south", and captured a lot of scenery plus a few northbound's.

I got the biggest surprise of the trip at Burnside KY, and some on this Forum will really laugh.  I always thought that the Burnside bridge was in the middle of no-where (in some state forest, miles from civilization).  At least pics like this lead one to believe that:

Actually, the bridge is on the middle of two towns.  You pan right from that photo linked above and you get a Dollar General store while the rear of that train on the bridge is next to the playground of the Burnside Elementary School.  Like I said, I was shocked!

A few more pics:

1) The bridge crossing Lake Cumberland, from the Route 27 bridge parallel to the span.
2) The NS facility on the south side of the bridge, right in town.
3) The view from under the bridge shows some big-time rust on the span.
4) This is rather "blurry", but looks south through the gap in the rocks with the deck of the bridge beyond.  It's difficult to drive and shoot out the passenger window of the car at the same time.
