Oops! I Forgot to share this set- which was taken just 1 day after my trip to Sayre, PA. The occasion was my 41st birthday- which is a great excuse to be trackside. For this trip, I headed to a spot that has become one of my favorite train watching locations in recent years- CP Cass in Hornell, NY. It is a former Erie/EL junction that now hosts NS and the shortline Western New York & Pennsylvania (WNYP).

This westbound freight was the first train I saw that day:

Photo taken by me Saturday 1/30/2010. The WB was coming off the former Erie/EL mainline and heading up the Buffalo Extension.

Got questions? I can help you with the Erie Lackawanna (including predecessors), Lehigh Valley, Delaware & Hudson and the shortlines of upstate NY.

Notice the widecab in CR dress blue as the leading unit

The WB freight had both auto racks and intermodal (seen here) so I think it may have been part of the new joint operations being conducted with the Pan Am Railway:

This day was rather quiet. Several hours passed before I saw the second and final train of the day:

The train was headed eastbound and would arrive at Gang Mills within an hour or so.
