NS SD40-2's 6170 - 6206

Could someone please tell me if the NS SD40-2's 6170 - 6206 have a 81'' or 88'' nose and toilet hatch. Looking at pictures of these units brings on a couple more questions. Does this series all have corrorgated rad grills and bell mounted on the rear of the long hood?

Of those you asked about, all have 88" low short hoods and corrugated radiator grilles.

NS 6170-6188 have the bell mounted at the rear of the long hood and do not have a toilet hatch on top of the short hood.   These units also have standard radiator cooling fans and no exhaust silencer.  The units are setup with a bi-directional control stand with the long hood designated as the front.

NS 6189-6205 (6206 was rebuilt as NS SD38-2 3821 and 6207 was wrecked and retired in 1991) have a frame mounted bell and do have the toilet access hatch on top of the short hood.  These units have "Q-fans" for radiator cooling and have an exhaust silencer.  They are setup with a single control stand with the short hood designated as the front.
