I have a chance to get a brass gp38-2, but it is non db. Does NS have any GP38-2's non db? I haven't seen a single pic of one, and thought they didn't exist in NS roster, but thought to ask anyways. I thought the only non-db locos on roster were the few sd38's.

Do you happen to know the heritage of the #4160-4164 units?

NS/NW 4160-4163 were former Illinois Terminal 2000-2003, acquired by the N&W when it purchased the Illinois Terminal in 1982.  The units were retired by NS in April 1992 upon the expiration of their lease.

Lest we not forget the 7 non-db GP38s from the Southern... Granted, they are not 38-2s...  but atleast they had high-hoods!    :D   They were #2880-2886, ex-SRR, nee-? (help me out Chris...).  They were numbered following the #2879, the ex-TAG unit.

NS/SOU GP38's 2880-2886 were built for the original Norfolk Southern Railway as NS 2001-2007.  When built they had low short hoods and single control with the short hood designated as the front.  They were rebuilt by Southern with high short hoods and bi-directional control with the long hood designated as the front.
