I went out this afternoon looking for some trains and found a few of them running on the Bristol line today. First I missed the 38Q who had to wait for the 22A to get to Bristol. Then 23G came into Bristol with the NS 7545, NS 2639, and NS 6649 and met the 22A also.

Once 23G cleared, 22A got a green signal to come west so I caught him at Piney Flats heading to Telford to meet the 722.

About an hour later the 722 got close to Bristol and I took a shot of the DPUs just past the five milepost.

After a crew change at the Bristol yard office, here's one last shot of the DPUs.

Did you happen to see any sign of the aluminum hoppers that came through late last night? I couldn't see the reporting marks clearly, but the eerie whistling that came off of those---paced to about 45MPH---was audible for miles.

I thought they were lettered GLAX but am no longer sure.

Nice shots of those units. I like seeing those trains come along the ol' Bristol line.

I didn't hear or see anything about that train, was it heading east or west? I heard from someone else that there was an 056 eastbound that came through Christiansburg at 1:45 AM or something like that. The 056 could have been that train or a military train, which have been using the 056 and 057 symbols when they run them. Thanks for the kind words about my photos!

Headed west to Bristol; motive power unknown. The cars looked to be brand new, as shiny as they were. It was more about midnight, as a matter of fact.

I didn't hear anything about that train. Probably new hoppers from RailAmerica in Roanoke being delivered to someone.
