Grain trains are some of my favorite trains on the Harriman-Knoxville line... There are generally at least two loads and an empty that pass by the hamlets of Powell and Clinton on any day...

The procedure is generally that the southbound loaded trains either double the heavy grades out of Clinton (...East Siding-Copper Ridge...) and Heiskell (...Heiskell-Powell...) to the south (... about 1.75 % or so a couple of places...) and make two trips between East Siding and Powell; or they take on pushers to shove the whole train over the hill(s)... The loaded trains that get a push either pick up pushers from road trains moving north or the local crew (...in this case the Clinton-Knoxville local, T12...) somewhere around Clinton (...East Siding or Laurel Siding...)...

The pushers help the road trains out of East Siding at Clinton and push across two saw-tooth ridges between Clinton and Powell... They always make a hard run at Copper Ridge out of East Siding; and its a delight to watch....I'm like a kid; I never get tired of watchin them...

Today i wuz treated with a special treat... The 56G had the Southern Heritage unit running as the third engine in the engine consist...

Here are a few pictures of the head end and pushers coming out of East Siding and the Southern Heritage unit moving by Brickyard Rd. at Powell... Excuse the Powell picture; I'm never learn how to use this little mirrorless camera of mine...
