It's rare when we see foreign power on the CNO&TP (with the exception of BNSF, UP, and CN) but even more rare when we see power from another country! Which is what I saw yesterday (6/23/13). Thanks to an update on Facebook, NS 142 departed Alabama with a pair of Ferromex engines in the lead. Ferromex GEVO 4671 led Ferromex ACe 4054, a NS Dash 9, and a very heavy train. I thought about not going after them, but after a few hours of not hearing a peep, I went to investigate. I grabbed the camera and pointed my car south, where I beat 142 to Norwood with a few minutes to spare. Lucky for me, 142 was long, and well over a mile and a half. It was also very heavy. It stopped at Gradison which allowed me to jump on US 27 to head over to Waynesburg. But, after that, it never stopped until it got to the yard in Danville.

Nice pics . . . full sunlight and a bright blue sky really help the locomotives "stand out".

What are the loads on the flat cars immediately behind the power?

They almost look like mini-tanks (in primer paint?).

Just curious, RDS

You'd be correct, there were a few loads of tanks at the front

Nice catch! I didn't know the current color scheme for Ferronex before seeing this post.
Got questions? I can help you with the Erie Lackawanna (including predecessors), Lehigh Valley, Delaware & Hudson and the shortlines of upstate NY.
