In years past, lease power on the NS was pretty common. Before all of the new engine orders started to roll in, it was not uncommon to see every other train with CEFX, HLCX, or EMDX rent-a-wrecks. They where usually less than reliable, and the crews hated them. Now, its pretty rare to see anything other than class 1 power. On the rare occasion when a leaser does show up, its almost always with UP units it seems.

Sunday May 18th, I lucked into NS 376 with a CEFX "Bluebird" AC44CW leading. While nothing more than another boring ol GE, it was nice to see something a little different. Not nearly as cool as all those old WC and BN SD40's we used to see (and let us not forget the year or so that NS leased those Amtrak F40's), but still good to see again.

CEFX 1058 leads NS 376 past the blooming Iris's in downtown Harrodsburg KY.

A couple of angles of 376 at East Harrodsburg KY...with the slow speeds through town, its pretty easy to shoot something in the streets and beat them to the other side of town...even if this location is less than a mile from the shot above!

Nice shots EM! The first one is neat with the flowers in the foreground.
