With the rainy and cold weather this Derby Weekend, I almost didn't go out to shoot the Derby trains this year. But after I found out that there were going to be two trains, I knew couldn't pass up this opportunity.
First, NS 4271 turns on the wye in Youngstown yard.

The OCS has just finished wyeing its train and is ready to leave Louisville after a week long stay.

NS I39 glides by on the main with two foreign visitors about to meet 956 at Tucker.

NS 956 crawls by on the siding at Tucker.

Twenty minutes later, NS 975 with the Veteran's unit flies by on the main at Tucker.

Nice shots, Nick! That Veterans shot is pretty intense in my book.

Nice pictures.  Thanks for sharing.

Noticed in your third shot, that the air hose on the front of 4270 appears to be hanging low.  If memory serves me correctly, the train was stopped by the Avenstoke Detector (MP 323.3) for a dragging equipment defect.  I wonder if that was the offending equipment?

It was. It was discussed in another thread that the hose set it off. DE Dan.
