I have been working on the images I shot down in Chattanooga during our Labor Day weekend trip. Here are a few random shots of the NS F units, and intermodals at Tenbridge.  I will try to get around to posting some shots of the Southern 630 and other assorted goodies later this weekend.

The full sized versions of these can be found at this link http://www.pbase.com/kd4jsl/ns2011carm

NS 955, with the NS 4271, B Unit, & a business car pass under the Wilder Street bridge in Chattanooga, after a trip down the CNO&TP. After the coach was set out at Debutts yard, the power would be taken to TVRM for display during railfest.  Thursday, 09/01/11

After arriving at TVRM later that afternoon, the F units sit on the wye at Grand Junction, as NS train 15T passes by on the mainline.

Southbound NS 223 crosses over the TN river, with the dark clouds of a storm in the background.  Saturday Evening, 09/03/11

NS 282 departs Chattanooga after a quick crew change, ready for a night time run up the CNO&TP

NS 229 meets a Northbound above the TN River.

Lots of yellow. I really like the F's and the 15T but I'll go check the rest out on pbase.

So does that bridge stay up for river traffic or is it always down for rail traffic?

The drawbridge is raised and lowered a couple of times a year by the railroad, just to prove it still works, and to test it in case it should ever need to be raised. That portion of the river see's little if any commercial traffic anymore that would necessitate the bridge being raised.

I believe it was last year, that during one of the test, the bridge hung up in the way back down, and caused a bit of train delay until the issue was resolved.
