I had to run some errands this morning and decided to drive around and see what was moving. I started out by driving over to Papa John's Cardinal Stadium where they are staging the Street Rod Nationals or whatever that car show thing is called. Caught some really good looking street cars and a few CSX trains going by... since we don't cover CSX or street rods here I decided to head over to catch NS 23G again from the same overpass.

This time I planned to head off to the Tucker siding once they started building the train so I could photograph a meet there.

#1 - 23G

#2 - unknown autorack in the hole at tucker

#2
And the auto rack headed for St. Louis or wherever this guy goes.

I think I am burned out on 23G and both of those overpasses.

The last 4 are at MP 288 on the Louisville District.

The very first photo is about MP 282 where they assemble 23G. MP 283 is East of here just before the Buechel Depot and West of this is MP 281 give or take a bit and is called Whitner on the green sign alongside the tracks.

Nice shots! We own a small vacation cottage at Jonesborough, TN near the NS (ex-Southern) main line. I've seen 23G pass there many times, but I haven't had the time to do much photography. When we're there, I'm consumed with "honey do" chores, so there hasn't been the time to railfan. But---that line is certainly busy enough (and with some neat spots) to do some shootin'.

Thanks. I look forward to seeing some of your shots of 23G and other trains from that end of the line.

a couple mixing center runs from simpsonville. both coming off the tucker siding after an eastbound had passed.

chased this mixed freight from jeffersontown kentucky to waddy kentucky. just to see if i could keep up with a slow moving freight. wrong turns and saturday slowpoke drivers made this chase very difficult.

i did catch this eastbound at waddy as a bonus as it came by first.

and finally here's the steel coil train 60A & 61A that i ended up seeing for 3 days straight both directions after growing bored of seeing 23G everyday.
