After catching 96W running long hood forward yesterday I wanted to try and get a front facing train from the same location so I headed out this afternoon to catch the returning (westbound) autorack train from the mixing center.

I saw the light set for a train and figured that the afternoon intermodal (eastbound) was set to go out and thet autorack would be in the Tucker Siding basically cancelling my chance to get a shot from the one lane bridge again.

Upon arriving at the Tucker siding a westbound intermodal was parked waiting.

As soon as I snapped a few photos of 9091 the light went red for an eastbound and about 8 minutes later 23G came though... and parked on the main side by side with the westbound intermodal.

With 23G parked on the main and with the earlier train still in the siding with no signs of movement I decided to get out in front of 23G and photograph it on the one lane bridge and call it a day.

23G stayed parked for 2 hours. First up was the coil train. Still no 23G because the mixing center run came along long hood forward.

Without a scanner you basically fly by the seat of your pants and today was one of those days were lady luck was on my side. Still waiting for 23G to come along two more westbound trains came through.

After the coal train cleared it was about 30 minutes before 23G rounded the corner and descended towards the Pope Lick Trestle.

One last parting shot of 23G and I was off to the nearest McDonald's for a large sweet tea. I didn't care if anything else came along as I was drenched in sweat and burnt to a crisp.. I drank a large and refilled my cup and finished it before I made it about 5 miles home. I forgot how hot summertime gets. There is no shade on the bridge.. and without knowing what's coming you can't sit in the car and wait on a one lane bridge.

I have a DV video camera and no way to transfer the footage except to burn it to a DVD but the footage and the sounds from right about those engines is pretty awesome.

That's basically how I do it these days- no scanner. Yeah, I know a scanner would help (and I'll eventually get one) but luck is also treating me well for now.

Nice job on the pics, especially the depot in moonlight.
Got questions? I can help you with the Erie Lackawanna (including predecessors), Lehigh Valley, Delaware & Hudson and the shortlines of upstate NY.

Thanks. That's hand held with in camera processing. One of the only things I like about this camera I use is the night landscape setting.
