Title: 2nd District CNO&TP

The rain held off for most of the day so I took a quick trip north from Cookeville up to Somerset and then up as far as Kings Mountain.   Got out ahead of 55A and was there at Kings Mountain for a northbound and two southbounds.   Had one southbound at Burnside crossing the river but didn't get a decent pic.  And then a few other random pics including a dog that was stalking me.  lol

It was just a few hours but I had a lot of fun.  Thanks for looking.

I'm getting the bug now.  I've spent my first year of rail fanning mostly along the A line because I was living in Knoxville.   I'm in Cookeville now but the CNO&TP isn't too far away.    Wanting to explore a lot more up that way and start learning what I can about the history of all these tunnels.

Awesome photos! The old bridge abutment is the old Burnside Bridge #54 and the tunnel is #4. If you get on the Southern Railfan. net page the first picture you see is F unit crossing a bridge with a curve with a tunnel on the other side, that is old Burnside before the bypass.

I'm definitely infected with the 2nd district now.  I've been in two tunnels, Sunbright and Kings Mountain.   And took a few pics of tunnel 4 you're talking about.   I'm itching now to get to Nemo and explore all that.

It's amazing how different that scene was with the old wooden bridge (trestle?) after the train exits the tunnel.  Sure makes one want to explore to see what is still out there.

Thanks for the information.  I have a lot of reading and exploring to do.

All the old tunnels are still intact except 6 and 10 which were daylighted pre-1906.

Well, you got 18 which is completely flooded, 21 is also daylighted, just a small brick wall left from the tunnel wall, and 27 caved, is this correct?
